Comedy Club is the new name
for Comedy Store UG, which relocated from its previous location at UMA
Showgrounds to Lazio Bar and Restaurant in Kololo in July.
Since then, the evening has
included a variety of performers, the most of them were regulars at the Comedy
Store and included artists, socialites, and comedians.
Bebe Cool made known last
night how CEO of Comedy Store Alex Muhangi has been engaged in a quiet conflict
with URA.
It appears that Muhangi
relocated his company from Lugogo to Lazio as a result of this conflict. But if
they don't move the comedy concert back to a larger location, Bebe Cool has
threatened to declare war on the government.
Midway through his Wednesday
performance, Bebe remarked, "Am in pain because Alex (Muhangi) left the
big venue (UMA Showgrounds), but it's okay to be at Lazio, we still need comedy
to go on."
The singer Gagamel went on to
emphasize how Comedy Store used to employ a large number of people at UMA
Showgrounds and that closing it would have a detrimental impact on the growth
of the comedy sector.
Before launching a fully
frontal war on the administration, he urged President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to
step in.
