Dancehall artist Mudra, real
name Alfa Ssebunya, stated at some point in August that he wanted his music to
cease being played once he dies.
His letter was widely
received, and those who know him well—especially his family and prominent
figures in the media—hope that his desire will be fulfilled.
He dropped another bombshell
while the country was still processing his request, leaving people to speculate
about what might be happening in Mudra's life.
Mudra recently told one of his
religious leaders that he intended to give up music in the future, though he
was unsure of when exactly.
When Mudra makes more money
than he has put in his music career thus far, he will stop making music and
devote his attention to other duties.
Claiming that music is not
what he wants to do with the rest of his life, he is excited to explore other
business opportunities.
The singer of Kadongo Kamu,
Vicente Segawa, resigned for the same reason, he continues, stating that even
his religion forbids performing secular music.
Noting that he doesn't mind
getting involved in politics, Mudra says that his hope is to not be in the
music industry for too long.
