Carol Nantongo, a former Golden Band member, is upset
that people keep referring to her as a band artist.
The singer for the band Oliwa asked Mr. Henrie why, every
time her name is mentioned, someone immediately adds the title "Band
singer."
She questions why "urban artists" are not
recognized to be band artists like herself because she thinks her music is
similar to what they perform.
Nantongo immediately named Rema Namakula when asked to
name the urban artists she was alluding to.
What makes you think I'm a band singer? I produce music
similarly to a number of other performers you would classify as urban artists,
such as Rema Namakula, but I am a band member.
She described how the music business is rife with
rivalry, hatred, and witchcraft, particularly among female musicians, in the
same interview.
She revealed how a senior female vocalist enchanted her to the point where she lost her voice for several months.
