THE MEANING BEHIND THE
SONG: NAKUPOWA BY RROVSHANN.
I first heard the song "Nakupowa" by Rrovshann on a
late evening tea while hanging out at a friend's house in Ntinda. As the song
started playing, I was immediately captivated by the infectious beat and smooth
flow of the lyrics.
Little did I know, this song would go on to hold a special
meaning for. The song delves into the aftermath of a broken relationship, with
Rrovshann reflecting on the struggles he faced and the emotional journey he has
embarked on.
This song begins with a catchy verse that metaphorically
compares the intensity of the relationship to a tragic death. Rrovshann
expresses how his heart was put on desperation, never expecting it to be
shattered like nothing. Licencing it unable to function, symbolizing the pain
and stagnation he feels.
In the first verse, Rrovshann acknowledges the damage inflicted
on his heart, yet he still finds himself fenced by other women who are drawn to
his music.
He mentions how he occasionally thinks about his past love but
emphasizes that he is moving forward with his life, taking care of his child
and being committed to his wife. The second verse delves into the frustration
and anger Rrovshann experiences when trying to communicate with his former
partner. He attempts to reach out but is met with excuses, ultimately realizing
her skillful ability to lie.
Despite this, he remains hopeful and resilient, finding
solace in smoking weed to heal his wounds. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the
feeling of giving up from an inauspicious relationship. The nakupowa imagery
signifies the emotional heights and depths Rrovshann experienced in his
relationship, ultimately leaving him lost and unconnected.
Third verse explores the disagreement between anger and
reminiscence. Rrovshann admits to parting ways and moving on, yet he finds
solace in hanging out with his new baby mama.
He compares their bond to running and, symbolizing the
fast-paced and exciting experiences they share together.
The song ends with a reiteration of the chorus, emphasizing the
emotional journey Rrovshann been on. It's a bittersweet reminder of the pain
and growth he has experienced, but also a testament to his resilience and ability
to move forward.
This song was written by Rrovshann, based on a true story men go
through everyday life and produced by Nexo Kungoma, then Mastered By ElvibitZ
of Soundchange Studio.
